I bought this camera because it had every feature I was looking for for candid child shots: right size, video capability, face focus. Unfortunately, after struggling with it for 6 weeks I returned it, since it’s almost impossible to consistently take decent shots without a ton of digital noise (speckles / grain in the shot). My big clunky 10 year old Cannon G-shot takes far superior photos. Even my little Casio Exilim, which occasionally has focus issues, and which I bought the Nikon to replace, is way better. The Coolpix shots look a bit like those from my 7-year old’s kid camera. There’s no way I can use most of the photos I took, either on the auto settings, or when I tried to adjust them manually. Interestingly enough, when I took it back to Costco where I bought it, the camera guy checking in the return told me (quite casually), “Oh yes, these are awful cameras.” Don’t waste your time & money.

I took approx 500 shots with and the LCD screen died on me. Estimated cost of repair from Nikon (this was not covered under warranty) was $90. Hardly worth it. I would not buy this product again.

I aboslutely love this product! It’s perfect for any camera-lovers who don’t know exactly what they’re doing. It’s easy and simple, but comes with a lot of awesome features.

Good overall but in reviewing pictures on your SD card,
it does not store them last first, but rather flips you
back to the first picture you took which forces you to
page through the pictures already taken to get to the
most recent ones

I purchased a Nikon L1 3 years ago and it died on me. I love Nikon products. I was in search for a smaller, faster camera. I was amazed at how cheap these cameras have gotten. This camera does not take a long time between pictures like my old one. The difference in megapixiles is amazingly clear. The size is so small now that I am worried about sitting on the camera when I put it in my pockets. Love this camera. Hope it lasts longer than the last but with technology rapidly changing, I’m probably going to upgrade again anyway. Great price.
